We would usually be promoting Moniaive Folk Festival this may, but sadly due to covid-19 it has been cancelled.
But here are a couple of online events happening in Moniaive.

The return of jam sessions and festivals is just over the horizon… but it is suspected that many of us might be feeling a bit rusty!
However, help is at hand, as the award winning UK bluegrass band The Often Herd will be hosting a Zoom workshop for guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bass at 1pm on Sunday 16 May 2021 (players of other musical instruments are also welcome to attend the workshop).
The workshop is being promoted jointly by Core Music CIC & the Moniaive Michaelmas Bluegrass Festival.
It will be broken into two sections, each an hour and a half long. The first half will be split into two zoom "rooms" (fiddle/mandolin and guitar/bass) focussing on techniques specific to those instruments and the harmonic and rhythmic relationships between them. We will learn the melody and chords of a popular bluegrass tune/song in these "rooms" before coming together as a full ensemble during the second half of the workshop, contextualising the role of each instrument in the bluegrass band sound.
The Often Herd will also be talking about their experiences writing, rehearsing, arranging and performing original music.
Tickets are £12 per household, however if more than one person is attending and you feel generous feel free to buy more than one ticket!
